Making the change to a new way of life

I am reading Everyday Missionaries, and chapter 7 refers to one of the reasons some investigators don’t progress is because they don’t know HOW.

I also want to comment that many times the investigator knows HOW, but they are afraid to make the HUGE transition to live their life as a member of the church. There is much required that is different from their own church, and the key is to have strong friends or fellowshippers available to help them when their whole family and friends no longer understand why they have abandoned their former way of life.

Fear is the factor that many times stops an investigator from progressing and not just HOW.

I wanted to make this point speaking from a convert of 34 years. I grew up Catholic and it was difficult to consider making the huge change to be LDS when my family and all my friends growing up were all strong and devout Catholics.

Only having strong members around me helped me make the transition and hold fast to the new life I was embarking upon.
